My mom has a four year old chihuahua that she has never house trained. The dog has been formally trained at a school, but is still a very horrible dog. . . obviously not it’s fault though. It’s always been able to just poop and pee where ever it pleases, which is a problem and disgusting and she just follows it around and cleans up after it. Anyways, she has called for my help because I’m usually good with dogs and its just difficult on where to start because it’s always been programmed in his brain that he is allowed to poop where ever he wants. I know that we need to clean up very well so his smell isn’t in the carpet anymore and we also need to start putting down his food and water at scheduled times so we know when he’s going to go, but does anyone else have any tips? and we don’t want him to use potty pads we actually want him to go outside. I’m here in the morning, and I can come at later in the day, but it’s her reponsibility to take him out the rest of the day, but she works 7 pm to 7 am so she is tired. I serioulsy need a schedule bad. also would it be better to buy the dog a harness instead of a leash because it’s so attched to my mom that when I take it outside it just trys to pull to go back inside and chokes itself. The problem is unbareable to even be with in the house. The dog also has major aggression problems, but those will have to be tackled later because house training needs to happen asap. It’s hard to take it out to poop though because it won’t walk in the snow. . . . so any suggestions about that would be great too.
Thanks in advance,
Jes
If someone gave a detailed schedule about feeding and when I should take it out, I’d for sure pick you for best answer. People have told me to crate train, but she is not going to want her dog in a crate all day. I need the best thing to do though. Please help.

I got a chihuahua puppy (4 mos) a week ago. It’s a female. I have been trying to train her to pee outside by taking her out every few hours during the day. I wait until she starts squatting to pee or poo and as she does so I say “go pee, good girl” and as soon as she’s done with either pee or poo, I give her a treat. She is still messing alot in the house and any time she starts whining alot and I think she may need to go out, I take her out. It takes her 10 minutes to start trying to pee usually if even then. She just walks around and not just trying to find a spot to go. Sometimes during the day I can’t spend alot of time outside with her because I have to watch my son inside the house and I can’t take them both outside at the same time. I’m just not sure what to do.
we have a fenced yard, but the fence is in bad shape. Plus, I am trying to actually train her and give her praise when she goes, so I need to be with her. How long does it typically take to train them to go outside?

My new wife brought a spoiled dog into the marriage. I can’t re-train or I’LL be in the dog house. (I tried) The dog has it’s run of the furnature, allowed on all beds and under the covers, is constantly being fed people food treats at the table (so it’s always begging). Has never been taught come, sit stay etc. so you really can’t take it anywhere because it’s a nusience.
We want to get a second dog and my wife has agreed to my rules and training for the new dog. No furnature, no beds and no human food. . . especially from the table. She has also agreed to letting me train it to obey so we can go places with it.
My question is. . . . . Will training a new dog to NOT do all the things the other dog is allowed to do be possible? (From the dogs point of view) Will the new dog resent the existing dog and cause behavioral problems?
It is an m? Mixture of red. It is about 1 1 / 2 years. It t? form? home for a while. About two months ago, he d? Cid? he was going to start? pee and poo on the basement. We started? blocking the basement and the behavior seems? are lining? ter. About a week later, he started? ? pee? the eye Tage bathroom. He will come home and 15 minutes? half an hour later, he peed on the door of a bathroom or toilet. The problem? My behavior seemed to him-m? Me. My friend scrubbed e bathroom and toilet with baking soda, then with soap? Murphy Oil to d? rid of the smell. He did not t? a problem? me for about 2 1 / 2 weeks. Today, I heard him pee? the eye Tagus. I closed? my laptop and got up to go after him and shouting? s, but before I could m? not me? Halfway down the stairs, before I cry?, he ran down and hid under the table. He knows what he did was wrong. Shorts are for? Rid of him, I do not know how to make him stand. Why does he do that? There were no changes in the house. no new pets or pets visit. no change roommate r? recently. so I do not see stress as a factor. it is g? n? generally do so when we do not? home. dogs? taient? alone about 18 hours last weekend because my friend has forgotten? to let them out – but there was no mess.
My french bulldog has been house trained for almost a year now. He has not relieved himself in the house in the longest time, and always lets me know when he needs to go out. These past couple days he has done his business indoors. Anyone have any ideas why the sudden change?
My dog will be a year old on August 28th. He’s a mini daschund.
Up until around 3 weeks ago, we’ve lived in an apartment, or a townhouse, with no back yard. So, when we trained him as a puppy, we trained him to go on pee-pee pads, instead of training him to pee outside. Which worked out well.
He caught on quick, and only peed and pooped on his pad. Even on walks he would hold it til he got back to his pad. But, as soon as we moved into this new place he started peeing and pooping on the floors.
I know he needs time to get used to the new place, but it’s been like 3 weeks and he hasn’t made much progress. I’ve gone back to the pad training basics. . . but nothing has changed.
Another difference is that this place has all hardwood floors. You can tell that he doesn’t like it much, since has always had a carpeted home.
Example: He won’t lay on the flooring or do his tricks on the hard floor. The only place he will lay now is on furniture or area rugs.
Any suggestions
