I’ve had GSDs and Northern Inuits before, and I’ve trained them myself — they both turned out to be exceptionally well mannered and obedient boys.
I’ve currently got a 16 week old Husky x Malamute puppy — who seems extremely head strong. He understands simple commands; Sit, Stay, Come etc. However, he’s very temperamental when it comes to executing them.
Inside the house he does almost everything he’s told to do, but as soon as we go into the garden or the park. . . he’ll only do it if he feels like it, sometimes he’ll just flat out ignore me!
People have said I should take him to Obedience Classes. . . . . could someone please tell me what these classes entail, what do they consist of? For you and the dog?
PS: I know GSDs are ‘malleable’ dogs and Huskies are ‘stubborn’, so the comparison may seem a moot point. I’m just stating that I know what it takes to train a dog, I’m not being some kind of irresponsible lazy guy by putting off these classes.

We Have only one more shelter, Noah, s Ark, and I DO IT Emergency Believe Any type of offers lessons. Nor Is A Petco or Petsmart or anything There type of the Within 50 minutes of here. Anyway, sorry for the long explantion. With all this Said, Does anyone know of a qualified person or place Who offers private dog training? E in Gainesville? Its been difficult trying to train my dog for the past few months and I find myself having less time to spend with her right now but that is only temporary. However, I would like to send her off to a dog school where she can spend a couple of weeks learning how to be obedient and great dog. I used to spend a great amount of time working diligent with her by reading books, watching the dog whisperer and other dog training videos and they only seemed to work a handful of times. Please let me know if you have any personal experience with sending your dog off to a training school in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA and getting great results! Thanks!
I am looking into in home dog obedience training for my 4 month old pit puppy and so far am most interested in Peaceful Pawz which is owned by Marianne Courey and located in Metro Detroit. I can’t seem to find any reviews on her or her company and was hoping for a little help on here! The price is very reasonable (5 sessions/100$) but want to know if the training is worth it! Thanks!
What I want to know is if any normal street or wilderness dog can learn obedience to an acceptable degree, it doesn’t have to be champion on those “best Dog Shows”. Also, even if there may not guaranteed, have this happend before?; It maybe puppies better, or perhaps the majority of properly trained dogs are more “houseborn, house raised”, but that is not what’s important in my question- what’s important is the answer about the likelyhood that it may happend ( Can it happend, could it be that a street dog become acceptably trained, even if the number of these dogs is less than the number of dogs that are well trained that are already house pets; In other words, can it happend with proper training or is it almost always nearly impossible to train an adult untrained dog to behave acceptably well, and it requires a miracle?); Also, ignore which method should be used, as long if there is a method and not simply a matter of absolute luck without the possibility of Human influences.
